Crafting Visual Narratives for a Cultural Symposium

In my role as a student assistant at the Latin American and Caribbean Library, I was recognized for my talent in graphic design and entrusted with the responsibility of leading creative projects. One of the notable projects I undertook was to design graphics for the annual Haitian Studies Association conference held at the University of Florida. Below, you’ll find details about the graphics I created for this event.

Graphic 1:

Event Promotion

I was tasked with designing a visually captivating graphic to promote the annual Haitian Studies Association conference. This graphic aimed to generate interest, convey the theme, and encourage participation.

Theme Amplification

The graphic effectively encapsulated the theme of the conference, “Exploring Haitian Culture and Heritage,” by incorporating vibrant colors, traditional motifs, and elements that celebrated Haitian culture, creating a compelling visual narrative.

Multichannel Utilization

The promotional graphic was adapted for various marketing channels, including social media and print materials. This adaptability ensured a consistent and impactful message across all platforms.

Graphic 2:

Conference Book Display

To complement the conference, we organized a book display showcasing publications by the presenters and experts attending the event. I designed a graphic to accompany this display, providing an eye-catching visual element that highlighted the significance of the books and their authors.

Interactive Element

An interactive QR code was incorporated into the graphic, allowing attendees to access additional information about the books and authors. This innovative feature enhanced the visitor’s experience and facilitated book exploration.
